What do you make of the idea of Pharr that one could learn Ancient Greek via starting with the Homeric poems as opposed to just starting with Attic Greek as a foundation and then progressing on to it?
So basically the “conventional” paradigm of starting with Attic and then going on to other forms of Greek (Homeric, koine, etc.) is better?
And on a side note, how accurate is the Erasmian pronunciation? I’ve heard critiques that modern Greek pronunciation has a better chance of accuracy to the sound of Greek than the Erasmian reconstruction.

I think it is a nice idea, but it makes it hard to read everything else and really limits your understanding.

I think so. I do think it can work with Homer first, you just need to spend a lot of time working on other authors
